Stockholm with Helen

22.3 - 26.3

Deliiiish!

Helen's mattress deflated and so we had to improvise and make a mattress
out of three blankets. Bless.

Completely normal.

Helen being a hobo.

I can't believe it's already spring break! Where the hell did the time go?! It flew by in a blink of an eye - the same thing happened last term - it's scary how fast time flies.

As you may or may not know, Helen and I arrived in Stockholm on Friday afternoon after a very long journey (on separate flights however). I hadn't seen Helen since October of 2012, and that was only for about 3 hours in total, so when I finally got to give her a nice long hug I finally felt like myself again :)
Helen and I spent our days out in the city shopping, drinking tea at Urban Coffee and complaining about our feet and backs hurting haha! On Sunday evening we went to the cinema to watch Django Unchained - Helen, you will know how to pronounce this! KRRR. Helen had seen it twice before but this was the first time for me and I was not disappointed. Christoph Waltz you are a hell of an actor! I loved that Quentin Tarantino, the director of the film, plays a little role in the movie as an Australian cowboy haha. However, I still think I prefer Inglorious Basterds. I think I may have to see Django Unchained  one or two more times to be completely sure.

MIKA

Grace Kelly

I recently rediscovered MIKA and his album Life in Cartoon Motion, which was released in February 2007. I remember I used to listen to his music so much when I was 14, and when I heard a song of his in a commercial I literally screamed of joy! I immediately searched for him on Spotify and listened to one of my favourites: Grace Kelly. The lyrics of the song flooded my brain and I sang along like old times!
Other songs by MIKA from his album Life in Cartoon Motion:

This song isn't from Life in Cartoon Motion but I like it anyway!

Weekend

I decided to give the blog a little face lift with a new background, new writing font and a relocation of the gadgets. I like it a lot better now and I hope you do too!

My weekend started today at 12 - yaay! But I have a psychology research report to finish for Tuesday and have to find research for my debate on Thursday. We're debating whether humans have evolved to be monogamous or polygamous. Quite interesting and amusing at the same time!

If I'm feeling up for it, I'm going to a flat party my friend Connor is hosting with his flatmates tomorrow evening/night. Usually their flat parties are insane - last time the porters kicked us out ahah. On Saturday I might go into town for a little stroll in and out of the shops then a movie night with the girls! Sunday will most likely just consist of work, work and more work!

I cannot believe it's a week left until I get to go home for spring break/easter vacay! WOOP WOOP :D

Cry Baby

The 1990s teen musical which is set in the 1950s Baltimore stars Johnny Depp as the teen rebel Wade "Cry-Baby" Walker.
The film is a parody of other teen musicals such as Grease and Hairspray, and you can clearly see the trend in the plot; it centres around a group of teenage delinquents who are referred to as the "Drapes" and another subculture of teens called the "Squares." Cry-Baby, a member of the Drapes falls passionately in love with Allison, a Square, which creates upheaval and turmoil in the little town of Baltimore.

I thought the film was fantastic, funny and amusing! Of course, the music in the film is what made me like it even more :D
These are a few of my favourite songs from the film:

Sh Boom - Baldwin and The Whiffles

King Cry-Baby - James Intveld

Cry Baby - The Honey Sisters

Mister Sandman - Baldwin and The Whiffles

Teardrops Are Falling - James Intveld

Bad Boy - The Jive Bombers

Yellow Touch

Imagine Dragons

I have recently been listening to a lot of Imagine Dragons, and I started wondering who the band actually was. My second thought was that I had to share it with you!
Imagine Dragons are an American indie rock and alternative rock band based in Las Vegas, Nevada. The band signed with Interscope Records in November of 2011.
The members of the band consists of the lead singer and drummer Dan Reynolds, bass player and backup vocals Ben McKee, Wayne Sermon playing the guitar and backup singer and finally Dan Platzman on the drums, viola and backup vocals.
Their music is often described as being positive and uplifting which I think is very true. Moreover, the name of the band is actually an anagram for something only the band members know - I thought that was quite an interesting fact! :)

Top 4 Places I've Visited!

1. Stockholm

I think Stockholm is a given to be one of my favourite places; it has so much to offer! One thing I also really like about Stockholm is that you'll never be bored - there is always something to do. A warm summer's day can be spent in one of the many parks with a picnic basket, a rainy day is the perfect opportunity to visit one of the many museums :)

2. London

I've visited London several times and every time I go, I fall even more in love than I did the other times. The last time I was in central London, I strolled around the streets of Covent Garden, SoHo, China Town, Picadilly and Leicester Square. I fell completely in love with the architecture, the shopping, bars and restaurants.
I'm the type of person who can't stand it when it's too crowded, I get a little claustrophobic and I get irritated with the people who won't get out of my way! That's why I have a hard time going shopping on Oxford street, where all of the tourists and what not are roaming around - there's just too much going on. However, I do believe that visiting this area is a must if it is your first time visiting.

3. Tuscany

Italy is home to me, and I think I will always have a strong connection to it throughout my life. During my nine years in Italy, my family and I went on several holidays down to the beautiful ToscanaThe best meals in my life have been consumed in this magnificent region and whenever I think of the food my mouth waters! Italy really does have the best food on earth <3
Another magnificent thing about tuscany are the omnipresent pine trees! They're beautiful and they're everywhere - they smell good as well.

4. Barbados

The first time, and probably not the last time I visited Barbados was in December of 2011. My family and I went on a marvelous holiday over New Years and the first week of January. Visiting the Caribbean sea has been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember, and now that I've had the chance to visit I want to go back! And I can cross it off my bucket list ;) If you ever get the chance the visit Barbados you simply must go to Oistin's Friday night's Fish Fry: On Friday night particularly, the big thing to do is go to the fish fry at Oistins Bay Gardens. The food is the main draw - excellent fish, (tuna, swordfish, marlin, mahi-mahi, flying fish), lobster, chicken etc served in an extremely informal setting. You can get your fish grilled or fried depending on which vendor you choose from. It's all cooked on the spot in front of you. Excellent Caribbean music performances are part of the experience as well!
Next time I would love to do a sailing tour around the beautiful blue water or maybe even a cruise - time will tell. But I will definitely go back again :)
Beautiful sunset every evening <3

Tip: To be able to fully experience a city, it must be visited several times. Visiting it once won't do you any good. I have quite recently realized this; f. ex. I think I will have to go back to London at least 3 more times to see and experience everything.

Shoes, shoes, shoes

I found these four shoes on office.co.uk

Nike Blazer Hi Suede Vintage
Colour: Atomic Teal
Ultimately I fell in love with the cool teal colour of the shoe. I also very much like the style of it - a break from simple converse.

Toms University Espadrille
Colour: University navy blue
The ultimate summer shoe! Easy to slip your foot into and I have always loved simple espadrilles like these.

Converse All Star
Colour: Optical white canvas
You can never go wrong with a pair of converse. My white Hi-tops have seen the end of their days and really need to buy a new pair. I still can't decide if I should get a nice spring/summer colour or the white ones.. Or maybe both ;)

Timberland Classic Boat Amherst (2 eye)
Colour: Root beer
These Timberland loafers are perfect for both spring and summer. The leather is comfortable and the shoes is a classic style which I like :)

This Time Last Year - March 2012

March 2012

For quite some time now I've been thinking of introducing a new concept into this blog.
This Time Last Year will be a recap of what was going on in my life this time last year - convenient title, right? This will be a monthly thing, meaning I will post it once at the start of every month - this first time being the month of March 2012.
To be perfectly honest though, it took me quite some time to actually find reasonable photos to post on here, I also realized that the month of March 2012 was quite a boring month for me.. and I don't know if that's depressing or if I'm glad that I was studying so hard.. haha!
My class and I received our Graduation caps at the start of March - that was a VERY exciting day I remember. Karin and Sangeet look very pleased!

Picture of my finished prom dress.

I visited the university for an open day with my class.

I had several cuppas (aka. cups of tea/coffee) on the cold late-winter days to warm myself up.

I rearranged my bedroom out of pure boredom. I MISS MY BED!!!

By the end of March most of the snow had melted away and I sat outside in our garden reading my book.

I made a chocolate cake - "kladdkaka" to be more exact.

Was fascinated by all of my Dad's flower bouquets - I think we had like 8 scattered around the house.

And again..

My Dad got me my first pair of beloved vans! I have the mens Vans Authentic but I initially wanted the mens Vans Era, but it was absolutely impossible to find them anywhere!

Bought a proper sketch pad and pencils and started drawing again.

The finished product - but I still don't like the red I drew...

I started to draw tulips.

In the process...

The finished product.

I wonder what March 2013 will be like!
