Gina Tricot

While living in the UK for 5 months I've realized just how much I miss the Scandinavian brand Gina Tricot. I think I can classify it as one of my favourite stores, it has such a nice variety of different styles and for a very reasonable price! Which is always a plus for a student with a budget. It lets you stay on with the trends of the season :)
Here are some of my favourite pieces:

I'm sensing a slight bohemian theme going on! Which I like very much :D

Nineteen

Nineteen - 19!

Perfect birthday cake - fruit tart! :)
Exactly one year ago, I turned eighteen. I never could have thought that this year would have been so full of joy, precious memories, long summer nights and rough times (but that's a given I think).

During my year I:
-Met Emma (exactly one week after my birthday), who myself and my family were host family for
-Got accepted to the unis I wanted
-Got my first pointe shoes for ballet (painful but beautiful!)
-Went to see LMFAO perform at Gröna Lund in Stockholm with Emma
-Went to my senior prom with Albin and had a great time clubbing afterwards
-Graduated from school -> A-MAZIIING!
-Had the best summer trip of my life so far - Ios, Greek Islands
-Got my drivers license :D
-Moved away from home and started uni
-Met some amazing people
                 And many, many more things!

Last night, my flatmate Paola and I hosted a birthday party in our flat. It was her birthday on Wednesday so we figured we'd have a big bash and invite peeps. It was OUTRAGEOUS - incredibly fun! At 23:59 on Saturday night we had a countdown for my birthday, which was very amusing! :D

Thanks for this year, and here's to many more
Cheers, skål, prost, santé, cin cin, sláinte, na zdorovyeh!

This was supposed to go up yesterday, 24.2.2013

Quirky Facts #7

- There are a dozen secret rivers flowing beneath London. One, the Effra travels under the Oval cricket ground.

Portugal is England’s oldest ally. The Anglo-Portuguese Treaty signed in 1373 is still in force.

- Stockholm was established in 1252, by Birger Jarl, as a fortified island defense outpost against Baltic pirates.

In 1710, a catastrophic plague obliterated about one third of Stockholm’s population.

Stockholm is one of the most crowded museum-cities in the world, with around 100 museums, visited by millions of people every year.

Although the Great Fire of London destroyed much of the city, only six people were killed.

The "Dannebrog" (Denmarks national flag) is the oldest national flag in the world.

After the Rain

So much for the marvelous weather... it's now rainy and windy again -.- I just want spring to come; I want the sun, the blooming flowers, the trees turning green.
But I guess it's true what they say, "After rain comes sunshine"

Song of the day:
I Wanna Be Your Dog - The Stooges, Iggy Pop

Year: 1969
Genre: Proto-Punk

Songs from Memories - part 4

We Speak No Americano - Yolanda Be Cool & DCUP
This reminds me of a car ride back in the summer of 2010. It was playing on the radio and from the first time I heard it I absolutely loved it! I loved the tune, the beat, the fact that I didn't really understand what they were saying, but still to this day, it makes me happy.

Diva - Beyoncé + Gravity - Sara Bareilles
These two songs remind me of a dance performance I was part of during the spring of 2010. I wasn't in the dance group that danced to these songs, but when I hear these songs memories from that weekend flood my brain.

Fire Burning - Sean Kingston + These Boots Were Made For Walking - Nancy Sinatra
"Somebody call 911! Shawty fire burning on the dance floor!"
Oooh! This reminds me so much of my friend Sangeet and I when we would walk down the hallways in school, singing along to these songs <3

W.T.P.Space Bound + Not Afraid  + Cold Wind Blows + Going Through Changes - Eminem + Crack A Bottle - Eminem,  Dr. Dre, 50 Cent
All of these songs remind me of when I was visiting Helen + Jenny in Helsinki in August of 2010. Helen and I had gone to the airport to pick up Jenny from the airport, as she had just got back from Sardinia. We put some music on and Eminem's voice floods the room. I've always liked Eminem; I like his music. Some of his lyrics are seriously hilarious!

Sunny Days

I thought I'd put together an outfit inspired by the spring weather outside. The sun has been shining for the past five days and it makes me so happy! I really hope the weather stays this nice, I've had enough of the cold and rain.

Love Lockdown - Kanye West
King Of the Dancehall - Beenie Man

"I cannie drenk"

"I cannot drink"
Hannah, Sofia & Jenny

Sofia & Jenny

Sofia & Jenny

Sofia, Hannah & Jenny

Sofia & Jenny

Saturday:
Jenny sleeps at Gatwick to get plane at 7am.
Sofia picks up Jenny at Union Square and then drink Costa coffee to warm up.
Then shopping in town.
At home Jenny passes out on the bed, while Sofia watches Downton Abbey.
Sofia then wakes Jen up to order a pizza, while Sofia is ordering Jenny passes out again.
After the pizza, they get ready for the house party.
During the flat party, Ring of Fire is played and Sofia loses...
At 23.30 they take the bus into town and go to TigerTiger.
Sunday:
Wake up and go into town at 13.30 to have breakfast/lunch at TGIFs where they get stuffed and then feel sick for the rest of the day.
they then hobble over to the shops & then take the bus home and chill until the BAFTAs at 21.00
Monday:
They go to Sofia's psychology Sensation & Perception lecture at 11.00.
Have lunch at the Hub.
Explore the campus and the university library.
Go into town for some more shopping (cheeky), have a coffee at Starbucks before it's time for Jen to take the bus to the airport.

I've had an overall terrific weekend; I'm so happy Jenny could fit a little trip up here into her schedule. The last time we were together was back in October and to not see your best friend for four months is really hard. Many laughs, jokes and awkward moments will be remembered from this weekend - just like always! :')
Here are a few songs which will remind me of this weekend:

So Young So High - Dada Life
Church - T-Pain, Teddy Verseti
Wobble - V.I.C
Make It Bun Dem - Skrillex, Damien "Jr. Gong" Marley
The three first songs which featured in my latest Music Monday (#26)

On Saturday while Jenny and I were getting ready, we opened my window, turned off the lights and blasted the last song on the speakers highest volume. Pure excitement! If you've never tried it, you should - it's a good laugh :D

please excuse the quality of the photos, they were taken with an iPod Touch and a Sony Ericsson smart phone

Best Friend Tag

Best Friend Tag featuring Jennifer Anne Jacobson a.k.a. Jenny, Jen, Pretzel, Jennu

1. Who is Jenny Jacobson?
I'm 18 and studying business in Surrey. Although being British, I have only lived in the UK since September 2012. I have lived in France, Italy and Finland and hence speak French and Italian fluently.

2. How and when did you meet?
Jenny + Sofia: We met in September of 2003, we were 9 years old and had just started 4th year primary. Sofia had moved from Switzerland back to Italy that summer.
Sofia: It took me about two weeks to figure out that Jenny and Helen were twins. I remember when I saw your last name on the attendance sheet and then saw that Helen's was the same - I was really confused. Then a few days later I remember I spoke to Ari and Xana and they were the ones that told me that you were twins, haha.
Jenny: My first thought was that she was a bit odd and shy. Then again, I was odd too so we got on quickly.

3. What's your favourite memory together?
Sofia: IOS!!! Definitely. No doubt about it. We have lots of glorious memories together, but our trip to Ios is filled with memories I'll cherish for life.
Jenny: I have to agree with Sia. We've had loads of amazing memories but I think Ios is the best so far. We became a lot closer and literally did everything together. I hope we get to repeat the awesomeness this summer (2013)!!!

4. Describe each other in two words.
Sofia: Jenny is sociable and organized - for example, Jenny likes planning and making lists.
Jenny: Sofia is hyperactive (she can be quite intense sometimes, especially when she's excited or bored). However, she's also very chilled and caring.

5. What's your favourite song?
Sofia: It's hard to say.. It all depends on my mood and what I'm listening to at the time. But right now I love the song So Young So High by Dada Life.
Jenny: I don't have a favourite song, it changes every week. I have a very similar taste to Sofia, she always recommends stuff to me :)

6. What is something that annoys you about the other person?
Sofia: It annoys me when Jenny breathes heavily in her sleep. It's not that she snores but I can hear it, and for me to sleep peacefully I need it to be completely silent and dark.

Jenny: She is sometimes a little hard to control... and her intensity can sometimes get annoying
when you're in a chilled mood.

7. If you could go anywhere in the world together, where would it be and why?
Sofia: We would love to go and explore Australia.

Jenny: Yes Australia or anywhere in Oceania. But seeing as our only option at the moment is traveling within Europe, then Greece all the way MATE!

8. Favourite inside joke?
Sofia: There are too many!
Jenny: It wouldn't be an inside joke if we told you.
Sofia: True dat!

9. Who takes longer to get ready in the morning?
Sofia: It all depends really, I could spend an hour getting ready or I could get ready in 7 minutes. But on a usual week day, I would probably spend about 30-35 minutes getting ready. That includes a quick shower, make up, hair and clothes.
Jenny: I give myself 30 minutes in the morning to slowly get ready. If I know what I'm going to wear that day then I could spend 10 minutes getting ready. I'm really not too fussed about looking amazing for lectures.
Sofia: Yeah, like if I know what I'm wearing then it's easy, but there are some days when I have no clue and it takes a lot longer for me.
Jenny: Neither of us are high maintenance so even on nights out, we don't take too long.

10. Do you have anything matching?
Sofia: Several things I guess. Our Longchamp bags for example, even though they aren't the same colour. Shoes of course, Converse to be more precise... What else?
Jenny: We have different body types so although we have similar tastes in clothes, most of Sofia's clothes wouldn't suit me. We both have freckles in the summer. AND we have friendship bracelets.
Sofia: Hollaaa. We have matching socks - you know the white ones from H&M... but that's not too exciting, haha.
