- There are a dozen secret rivers flowing beneath London. One, the Effra travels under the Oval cricket ground.

Portugal is England’s oldest ally. The Anglo-Portuguese Treaty signed in 1373 is still in force.

- Stockholm was established in 1252, by Birger Jarl, as a fortified island defense outpost against Baltic pirates.

In 1710, a catastrophic plague obliterated about one third of Stockholm’s population.

Stockholm is one of the most crowded museum-cities in the world, with around 100 museums, visited by millions of people every year.

Although the Great Fire of London destroyed much of the city, only six people were killed.

The "Dannebrog" (Denmarks national flag) is the oldest national flag in the world.
